The Gwinnett Gladiators and Trenton Devils added to the ECHL record book on Friday in Trenton.
Gwinnett set an ECHL record with 70 shots on goal in its 3-2 shootout win. The 70 shots surpass the previous record of 69, set by Richmond against Erie on Dec. 23, 1990 and tied by Tallahassee against Baton Rouge on Jan. 18, 1997.
Trenton goaltender Dave Caruso established a new ECHL record with 67 saves, breaking the previous mark of 65, set by Greenville’s Daniel Bosclair against Greensboro on March 17, 2004.
The two teams combined for 111 shots on goal in the game, tying the second most in league history. The league record for combined shots in a game is 114, set by Richmond (69) and Erie (45) on Dec. 23, 1990.
