PRINCETON, N.J. – Gwinnett rookie goaltender Sean Fields is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for March 7-13.
Posting wins over American Conference rivals Columbia and Pee Dee, Fields was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage while helping the Gladiators go 3-1-0 to move into the sixth playoff spot. The 6-0 and 190-pound, Fields stopped 20-of-21 shots in a 2-1 win over Columbia on Tuesday. Fields, who celebrated his 24th birthday on March 6, had 26 saves in a 4-1 victory at Pee Dee on Saturday.
Fields is 7-0-2 with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in his last nine starts, helping the Gladiators move to within two points of South Carolina and Columbia for the fourth seed in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Fields, who began the season with Tulsa of the Central Hockey League, is 15-6-3 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .913 save percentage since joining Gwinnett on December 5. He has been the Gladiators nomination for Saver of the Week each of the past four weeks.
