PRINCETON, N.J. – Milan Gajic of Gwinnett is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 9-15, 2006 and becomes the third Gladiator to win the award, joining Guillaume Desbiens and Pascal Pelletier who won in back-to-back weeks in December.
The 24-year-old Gajic had eight assists and nine points to help the Gladiators go 2-1-1 and remain in second place in the South Division with 49 points and a 22-8-5 record.
Drafted in the fourth round (112th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Providence of the American Hockey League, Gajic began the week by registering an assist and scoring the game-winning-goal in a 2-1 win at Greenville on Jan. 10. In the second game at Greenville on Jan. 12, he recorded three assists in a 5-4 shootout loss and added another assist at home in a 4-1 loss to the Grrrowl on Jan. 13. He closed out the week with three assists in a 5-3 win against Charlotte on Jan. 14 that extended his scoring streak to five games.
