Gladiators re-sign Hughes

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced the signing of forward Bobby Hughes for the 2014-15 season.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League and the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Hughes, 26, joined the Gladiators in December of last season when he was traded from Fort Wayne. In total, Hughes scored 26 points (11g-15a in 36 games with the Komets and Gladiators.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was selected in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. He has AHL and ECHL experience – 23 points (10g-13a) in 58 AHL regular-season games, and 71 points (28g-43a) in 114 ECHL games.

He achieved a career year in 2012-13 with the Alaska Aces when he ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 39 points (15g-24a) in 59 games. He went on a tear that postseason, leading the team with 17 points (9g-8a) in only 11 games.
