PRINCETON, N.J. – Gwinnett rookie Dan Turple is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for October 23-29.
Selected in the sixth round (186th overall) by Atlanta in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Thrashers, the 21-year-old made 24 saves to record his first professional win and shutout with a 4-0 win against Columbia on Oct. 28. He won his second consecutive start on Oct. 29 making 26 saves in a 6-3 win at South Carolina, finishing the week at 2-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .943.
The 6-foot-6 and 220-pound Turple is 2-1-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of .894 in three starts. He is tied for the ECHL shutout lead while his two wins are tied for the lead among league rookies and tied for fifth overall.
