Goaltender Owen joins Stockton

Stockton, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announced the signing of goaltender Shane Owen.

Owen, 24, just finished his first full season with the Central Hockey League’s Missouri Mavericks, finishing the year going 35-15-1 and posting a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .917 save-percentage. In addition, Owen was named to the All-CHL Team and picked up CHL Goalie of the Week honors four times and Goalie of the Month honors once.

The Shanty Bay, Ontario native has played a combined 60 games in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, South Carolina Stingrays, Utah Grizzlies and Alaska Aces. Owen has also played a game in the AHL for the Hersey Bears along with two games in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH). Owen was also invited to the New Jersey Devils Training Camp in 2010.

Prior to turning pro, Owen played with the Erie Otters of the OHL but eventually and the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, helping the team capture the QMJHL Championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup Finals.
