Greenville Acquires Snowden

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl announced that they have acquired the rights to right wing John Snowden from the Texas Wildcatters as part of a three-team trade. Greenville traded forward Colin Shields to Alaska in exchange for defenseman Ryan Moren, who was then traded along with future considerations to Texas for the rights to Snowden.

In his second professional season in 2004-05, the 23-year-old Snowden ranked third in the ECHL with a career-high and team record 37 goals. He led the Wildcatters with 18 power-play goals and 62 points while ranking second on the team with 25 assists in 71 games. He was named CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for April after scoring 10 goals, including five power-play goals and two game-winning goals, and 14 points in six games. He also played one game in the American Hockey League with Utah.

In his first professional season with Texas in 2003-04, Snowden played in the ECHL All-Star Game and scored 43 points (22g-21a) in 72 games, tying for the team lead in goals and finishing second in scoring.
