GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2005 ECHL season continues for the Greenville Grrrowl.
The Grrrowl did what few believed possible Tuesday, defeating the top ranked Pensacola Ice Pilots 4-0 to win the American Conference first round series three games to one in front of an announced crowd of 2,225 at the Bi-Lo Center.
“I thought every shift was very good,” said Greenville coach John Marks. “We played hard, we played physical hockey. We beat a very good hockey team. I’m very proud of the guys in the (locker room). They played absolutely fantastic.”
Greenville took control of the game early and never let go. Only an outstanding performance by Pensacola goalie Frederic Cloutier kept the Grrrowl from scoring more.
The Grrrowl out-shot Pensacola 42-29. When the Ice Pilots threatened, Greenville goalie Mike Brodeur (pictured) kept the puck out of the net.
