Grimshaw returns to Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays have signed defenseman Ryan Grimshaw, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears and Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Grimshaw, 24, skated in 51 games with the Stingrays last season scoring 10 points (1g-9a). The Rochester, N.Y. native also appeared in two contests with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Moving into his third professional season, Grimshaw has appeared in 77 career ECHL games with the Stingrays and Trenton Titans, recording 16 points (4g-12a). He has also seen action in 21 career AHL games with Rochester and the Toronto Marlies, picking up one assist. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot, 195-pound defenseman attended Harvard University for four seasons dressing in 121 contests and netting 26 points (4g-22a). During his senior season (2011-12), Grimshaw served as team captain.
