Grizzlies add defenseman Marc Cantin

West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has signed defenseman Marc Cantin for the 2014-15 season.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League’s Norfolk Admirals.

Cantin enters his fourth pro season with 82 of his 119 professional games having been played in the AHL with the Providence Bruins and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Cantin split the 2013-14 season between the Sound Tigers and the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder. He had two assists in 39 games with the Sound Tigers and two points (1g-1a) in six games for Stockton.

Cantin played 25 games for the Reading Royals in 2011-12 and totaled nine points (2g-7a) and 34 penalty minutes. He originally signed a three-year entry level contract with the Boston Bruins on March 23, 2011.

Prior to turning pro, the Omemee, Ontario native spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Belleville, Windsor and Mississauga recording 79 points (16g-63a) in 240 career games.
