Grizzlies add NHL experience with Matt Pelech

West Valley City Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has signed Matt Pelech.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Pelech, a first-round selection (26th overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, brings 399 professional games to Utah, including 13 in the NHL with Calgary and San Jose. He is the older brother of Grizzlies’ leading scorer Michael Pelech.

The 27-year-old Toronto native, has totaled four points (1g-3a) and 38 penalty minutes in 13 NHL games with Calgary and San Jose. He has totaled 52 points (18g-34a) and 1072 penalty minutes in 386 AHL games with Quad City, Abbotsford and Worcester.
