Grizzlies Honor Former Utah Hockey Player

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – The Utah Grizzlies announced that they will honor former Salt Lake Golden Eagle Doug Palazzari prior to Friday’s game against the Phoenix RoadRunners at the “E” Center.

Nicknamed “Pizza”, the 5-foot-5 Palazzari will be the first hockey player inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame.

In the first season after St. Louis moved its Central Hockey League affiliation to Utah, Palazzari won the Triple Crown after leading the league with 45 goals, 56 assists and 101 points in 70 games. He became the first American to be named Most Valuable Player in the CHL and was named Player of the Year by both USA Hockey and The Hockey News.

In his second season in Utah, he repeated as the Triple Crown winner with 48 goals, 61 assists and 101 points and was again named MVP of the CHL as well as Player of the Year by The Hockey News as the Golden Eagles won the league championship.
