Gulls Agree To Terms
With Korovkin, Gilmour

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Gulls announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Nikita Korovkin and rookie forward Jake Gilmour.

The Gulls are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the sixth round (192nd overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Korovkin had 21 points (8g-13a) and 58 penalty minutes in 64 games with San Diego in 2004-05 and four penalty minutes in two games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old Gilmour has missed most of the last two seasons after suffering an injury during a team-building rock-climbing event where he fell 170 feet, breaking two vertebrae and his tailbone.

The 6-foot-2 and 225-pound Gilmore played in the Ontario Hockey League with Belleville, totaling 14 points (5g-9a) and 256 penalty minutes in 104 regular season games, including 10 penalty minutes in four games in 2003-04, and one goal and 14 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games.
