SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Gulls announced that rookie right wing Daniel DaSilva has been recalled to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.
The Gulls are the ECHL affiliate of the Lock Monsters of the AHL and the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.
The 20-year-old scored a goal in every game and had eight points (5g-3a) in four games with the Gulls, earning runner-up honors for In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week.
DaSilva attended training camp with the Avalanche and opened the season with Lowell where he has three points (1g-2a) and 18 penalty minutes in 15 games.
The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound DaSilva played three seasons for Portland in the Western Hockey League where he had 151 points (76g-75a) and 328 penalty minutes in 200 regular season games and seven points (1g-6a) and 28 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games.
He led Portland with 31 goals, 42 assists and 73 points in 71 games in 2004-05 and in 2003-04 led the team with 36 goals and ranked second in scoring with 56 points in 65 games.
