Gwidt re-signs with Grizzlies for second season

West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced that the team has re-signed forward Brent Gwidt for the 2014-15 season.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Gwidt played in 56 games for the Grizzlies during the 2013-14 regular season and in 56 of the team’s first 58 games before being injured on March 14 and missing the final 13 games of the year. Gwidt had 19 points (6g-13a) in 56 games and was a +3 in his first full professional season. He was fourth on the team with 145 shots on goal.

The Wisconsin native and former captain at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, led the Grizzlies with four shorthanded points (1g-3a) and was also tied for the ECHL lead in shorthanded scoring by rookies. Gwidt tallied two assists in two playoff games for Utah this year. He joined the team following college for the final five games of the 2012-13 season and for the playoffs. The forward was a sixth-round selection (157th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
