PRINCETON, N.J. – Gwinnett center Kevin Doell is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for February.
In his first professional season, Doell led the ECHL in February with 11 goals and 21 points in 14 games as Gwinnett went 10-3-1 to improve to 32-19-5 and third place in the Central Division. Under contract to Chicago of the American Hockey League, Doell led the Gladiators with four power-play goals and tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals.
The 24-year-old Doell ended the month tied for the ECHL rookie lead with 24 goals and six game-winning goals. Named ECHL Player of the Week for February 2-8, Doell was tied for third among league rookies with 34 assists and 58 points (24g-34a) in 50 games and ranked 16th overall in scoring. He registered a point in 13 consecutive games (8g-16a) from December 20-February 7, tying the league’s second-longest season scoring streak.
