ESTERO, Fla. – Titans’ forward Leon Hayward was the surprise choice for playoff Most Valuable Player. Hayward finished the series with three goals and three assists, which tied him for third on the Titans behind Scott Bertoli and Nick Deschenes.

Hayward was shocked to hear his name announced.

“I was looking at Ally (Andrew Allen) when they announced the award,” Hayward said. “They said my name so I was like I guess I will go up and get it.”

Hayward scored the first goal last night and produced the critical goal to start the Titans’ amazing five-goal third period in Game 5 on Monday.

“When you win, it is your teammates,” Hayward said. “Havi (Haviland) put me in a great situation (skating on a line with Bryce Cockburn and Paul Brown). I just try to keep up with those two. I was lucky tonight. I called Havi before the season to come to Trenton. He asked, `Do you want to win a championship? I said yes, and he said I could come.”
