WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed defenseman Brent Henley. The Wheeling Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.
In 2004-05, the 25-year-old had three points (1g-2a) and 12 penalty minutes in nine games with Greenville of the ECHL and four points (1g-3a) and 94 penalty minutes in 27 games with Edmonton of the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot-7 and 250-pound Henley had eight points (1g-7a) and 255 penalty minutes in 49 regular season games and 34 penalty minutes in seven playoff games with South Carolina in 2003-04 while also playing in the AHL with Toronto, registering one assist in 12 games.
Henley had 306 penalty minutes and 12 points (2g-10a) in 50 regular season games and four penalty minutes and one assist in four playoff games with South Carolina in 2002-03 and also played in the AHL, appearing in three games with Lowell and one game with Rochester.
In his first professional season in 2001-02, Henley had 22 penalty minutes in two games with Jackson of the ECHL. He also played in the now-defunct West Coast Hockey League, accumulating 188 penalty minutes and six points (3g-3a) in 50 regular season games and two penalty minutes in four playoff games with Colorado.
