High-scoring forward joins Walleye

Toledo, Ohio – Forward Troy Schwab has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2014-15 season.

The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Schwab has dominated the Central Hockey league over three of the last four seasons, collecting a total of 232 points (65g-167a) in 186 games played between Denver and Wichita. The native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan led Denver last season with a league best 71 assists and was second on the team in points with 96. He did the same thing in 2012-13, leading the Cutthroats with 60 helpers and was second in points (81). Schwab collected a point per game with 55 points (19g-36Aa in 2010-11 with Wichita in just 54 contests.

In the 2011-12 season, Schwab played overseas in Germany where he continued his point per game pace with 45 points (19g-26a) in 45 games played. The 5’8", 192 pound forward also has ECHL experience when started his professional career in 2009-10 with Johnstown. He led the Chiefs that year in assists (35) and was second the team with 53 points in 67 contests.

Prior to skating professionally, Schwab played four seasons at Lake Superior State University, including being a two-time captain in his junior and senior seasons. He collected 110 points (31g-79a), while skating in 150 games for the Lakers.
