Hutchinson named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

Michael Hutchinson of the Ontario Reign is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November.


The 23-year-old went 10-1-1 with one shutout a 1.67 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage in November as the Reign went 12-2-2 during the month to increase their lead in the Pacific Division to eight points.


A native of Barrie, Ontario, Hutchinson won his first two starts in November, making 38 saves in a 4-3 win at Idaho on Nov. 1 and stopping all 21 shots in a 2-0 victory against San Francisco on Nov. 6. He matched his season-high total of 38 saves two more times during the month – on Nov. 11 in a 3-2 shootout loss at Utah and on Nov. 17 in a 3-1 win against San Francisco. After suffering his first regulation loss of the season on Nov. 23, Hutchinson ended the month with three consecutive wins.


Under contract to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League, Hutchinson is 12-1-2 with two shutouts in 15 appearances with the Reign this season. His 12 wins lead the ECHL, while he is tied for the league lead with two shutouts and a 1.77 goals-against average while ranking sixth with a .932 save percentage.


Selected by the Boston Bruins in the third round (77th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Hutchinson has appeared in 35 career ECHL games with Ontario and Reading posting an overall record of 22-7-6 with three shutouts, a 2.42 goals-against average and a save percentage of .923. He has also seen action in 87 career American Hockey League games with Providence where he is 39-37-5 with seven shutouts, a 2.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916.
