IceMen add pair of goalies

Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with goaltenders James Reid and Garrett Bartus for the 2013-14 season.

The IceMen are the ECHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Reid, 22, played in 12 games with the IceMen last season. He concluded the campaign with a 3-7-2 record, amassing an .890 save percentage and a 3.81 goals-against average.

The 6’0”, 190 pound net-minder played in 12 previous ECHL games prior to being acquired by the IceMen mid-season. Eleven of those appearances came with the Alaska Aces, where Reid compiled a 7-3-1 record with an .866 save percentage and a 3.05 goals-against average. Reid’s other appearance came with the Orlando Solar Bears.

Reid’s junior career was spent with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL, where he played 128 games and went 75-30-9 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average.

Bartus, 23, played at the University of Connecticut of the AHA from 2009-13. He appeared in 111 games in his collegiate career, posting 40-58-9 record with a .911 save percentage and a 3.02 goals-against average.

The St. Charles, Ill. native enjoyed a successful NAHL career with the Mahoning Valley Phantoms (2006-09) and St. Louis Bandits (2009-10). The 6’2”, 190 pound goalie played 62 games with the Phantoms, posting a 35-18-6 record with an .890 save percentage and a 3.73 goals-against average. With the Bandits, Bartus appeared in 17 games and concluded with an 11-4-0 record, a .925 save percentage and a 1.91 goals-against average.
