Boise, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday, including the addition of forward Ondrej Roman and defenseman Hubert Labrie from the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars. In a separate transaction, defenseman Steve Oleksy has been loaned to the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers
The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Texas and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.
Roman, 22, is in his second professional season. As a rookie, the native of the Czech Republic had 22 points (8g-14a) in 72 games with Texas after being selected in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Stars.
Labrie, 21, is in his first professional season after spending four seasons with Gatineau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He had 48 points (10g-38a) in 192 games in the QMJHL prior to turning pro.
This is Oleksy’s second trip to the AHL after spending 17 games with the Lake Erie Monsters last season. In five games this season, Oleksy has one assist and 20 penalty minutes.
