Idaho Agrees To Terms With Wight, Rookie Shepheard

BOISE, Idaho – The Kelly Cup champion Idaho Steelheads announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Travis Wight (pictured) and rookie forward Brent Shepheard, who played three seasons together at the University of Maine from 2003-06.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

The 25-year-old Wight had 19 points (2g-17a) and 41 penalty minutes in 70 regular season games and four points (2g-2a) and six penalty minutes in 22 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs as a rookie while helping Idaho win the ECHL championship in 2006-07.

The 24-year-old Shepheard had 51 points (26g-25a) and 253 penalty minutes in 123 games for Maine from 2003-07.
