Idaho Beats Gwinnett 5-2,
Advances To Kelly Cup Finals

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) — Dan Vandermeer scored twice and Andrei Vasilyev had three points as the Idaho Steelheadsdefeated the Gwinnett Gladiators, 5-2, to win the WesternConference Finals three games to one and advance to the Kelly Cup Finals in the team’s first season in the ECHL. Vandermeer opened thescoring with a goal at the 14:35 mark of the first period andadded a second goal early in the second to give Idaho a 3-0edge. Vasilyev notched the second marker of the night for theSteelheads and assisted on the final two tallies, the last agoal by Dylan Gyori with 4:17 left in the second. Dan Ellisfinished with 22 saves for Idaho, which improved to 9-4 in theplayoffs. Evan Nielsen and Rick Emmett both had a second-periodgoal to pace Gwinnett, which finished the playoffs at 3-4 onthe road. Michael Garnett made 25 saves in a losing effort.
