Idaho Signs All-Star Zion,
Rookies Thompson, Hacker

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that they have signed two-time ECHL All-Star defenseman Jonathan Zion and rookie centers Brad Thompson and Dan Hacker.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

The 24-year-old Zion, who was voted as a starter for the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game after being chosen as a rookie in 2003, had 37 points (7g-30a) in 67 regular season games and one assist in four Kelly Cup Playoff games for Idaho in 2004-05 while also playing two games in the AHL with Utah.

The 24-year-old Thompson signed with Reading in 2004-05, after completing his four-year career at Minnesota State University Mankato, registering one assist in seven regular season games while also appearing in three Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Royals. He had 60 points (26g-34a) and 54 penalty minutes in 141 career games.

The 23-year-old Hacker played four seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha scoring 79 points (39g-40a) in 156 games, including a career-high 14 goals and 25 points in 2004-05.
