COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia Inferno announced that they have signed center Jay Legault, defenseman Chris Cava and left wing Nick Greenough.
The three players had originally signed with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, who were forced to suspend operations for 2005-06 because of Hurricane Katrina.
Columbia is the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League and the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the third round (72nd overall) by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-4 and 220-pound Legault had career highs in goals (19), assists (41) and points (60) in 61 regular season games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves in 2004-05.
The 24-year-old Cava, who holds the Mississippi team record with 223 penalty minutes in 2003-04, had career highs in 2004-05 with seven goals, 22 assists, 29 points and 65 games.
The 24-year-old Greenough played for Augusta, Reading and Mississippi in 2004-05. He had 24 penalty minutes in five games with Augusta and three goals and 80 penalty minutes in 38 games with Reading before Mississippi acquired him in a trade. He had eight points (5g-3a) and 74 penalty minutes in 13 regular season games and two points (1g-1a) and 11 penalty minutes in four Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Sea Wolves.
