BOISE, Idaho – The Kelly Cup champion Idaho Steelheads announced that the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League have signed Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player Steve Silverthorn to an AHL contract.
Silverthorn was named MVP after going 16-6 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.77 and a save percentage of .931 while playing all but 11:43 of Idaho’s 22 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He set ECHL postseason records for wins and minutes (1,388) while tying for the second-most shutouts and finishing with the fifth-lowest goals-against average. He was 4-1 and finished with the second-lowest goals-against average in the Finals with 1.44 while his save percentage of .945 tied for the second-best in the Finals.
Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of Iowa of the AHL and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.
