BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League announced that the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League have signed former ECHL right wing Darryl Bootland.
The Utah Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Islanders of the NHL and the Sound Tigers of the AHL.
The 25 year old began his professional career in the ECHL in 2002-03 and had 36 points (17g-19a) and ranked fourth in the league with 322 penalty minutes in 54 games with Toledo. He also played in the American Hockey League as a rookie and had five points (1g-4a) and 41 penalty minutes in 16 regular season games and five points (2g-3a) and 46 penalty minutes in 15 playoff games for Grand Rapids.
The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound Bootland had nine penalty minutes in six games with Detroit in 2006-07 while also playing in the AHL where he had 31 points (18g-13a) and 222 penalty minutes in 68 regular season games and one goal and 32 penalty minutes in six playoff games for Grand Rapids.
