ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals can wrap up their ECHL American North playoff series against the Trenton Devils if they can win their three upcoming games at First Arena.

Game 3 starts at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday with Game 4 on Thursday and Game 5 on Saturday.

The Jackals succeeded in gaining a split in their two road games at Trenton, and like most of the regular-season matchups between the teams, the outcomes were decided by one goal.

The general feeling, as expressed by Elmira defenseman Slavomir Tomko and coach Steve Martinson, was that the Jackals could have – and should have – won Saturday’s Game 2 after an exhausting 5-4 victory in four overtimes Friday.

“We felt good coming into (Saturday’s) game. If we could have gotten up a goal or two, I think we would have won,” said Tomko, who has scored a goal in each playoff game after getting three in 52 games of the regular season.

Martinson’s take: “We made too many mistakes. They were getting too many pucks on net.”
