Jackals, Rashid agree to terms

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and AHL’s Rochester Americans, announced that rookie forward Ryan Rashid has signed a Standard Player Contract for the 2014-15 season.

Rashid, 24, returns to Elmira after beginning his professional career with the Jackals at the end of last season. The 6-foot-2 200-pound forward posted four points (2g-2a) in six games with Elmira. The Detroit, Mich. native transitioned to the pro ranks after a successful four-year career at Niagara University. Rashid recorded 88 points (38g-50a) in 143 collegiate games. He helped lead the Purple Eagles to the American Hockey Association regular-season championship in 2012-13. Rashid was named to the AHA All-Rookie Team in 2010-11 after notching 26 points (13g-13a) in 34 games.

Prior to attending Niagara University, Rashid played his junior hockey for the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League and the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League. Rashid helped the Bandits win the Robertson Cup as the NAHL champion in 2008-09.
