Kalamazoo, Mich. –The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders and American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce the organization has re-signed director of hockey operations and head coach Nick Bootland to a two-year contract through the 2012-13 season; per team policy, the terms of the contract will be undisclosed.
“Over the course of the past three seasons, Nick has demonstrated what we (K-Wings) expect from our head coach in both the community and on the ice,” said K-Wings President Paul L. Pickard. “Reaching the Kelly Cup Finals in our second year in the ECHL is an outstanding accomplishment and we are confident that he is the person to help us reach our ultimate goal of winning the Kelly Cup.”
Guiding the K-Wings to three-straight postseason appearances, Bootland has already won 126 games in his young coaching career.
“My family and I are extremely excited to remain part of one of the top organizations in all of hockey,” said Bootland. “We share the same commitment for winning and by offering a two-year contact demonstrates their belief in my abilities to help the organization and the city capture another championship.”
Bootland has led Kalamazoo to North Division titles in each of its two seasons in the ECHL.
