PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Rivermen announced that left wing David Kaczowka has been reassigned to the team from Worcester of the American Hockey League and that the team has re-signed right wing Joe Pereira.
Selected in the fourth round (98th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 23-year-old Kaczowka has registered one assist and 24 penalty minutes in four games with Peoria and 12 penalty minutes in two games with Worcester. In 2003-04, Kaczowka played in the ECHL with Peoria, scoring nine points (4g-5a) with 72 penalty minutes in 15 regular season games and one goal and 24 penalty minutes in eight playoff games, and Gwinnett, scoring three points (2g-1a) and accumulating 118 penalty minutes in 22 games.
In his second professional season, the 6-2 and 200-pound Pereira has one assist and 16 penalty minutes in six games with Peoria. In his rookie season in 2003-04, Pereira played in the ECHL with Texas, accumulating 35 penalty minutes in seven games, and Peoria, scoring 10 points (1g-9a) with 109 penalty minutes in 45 regular season games and two points (1g-1a) and 15 penalty minutes in eight Kelly Cup Playoff games.
