The Idaho Steelheads didn’t get the benefit of a White House invite after winning the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Championship, but there were a few nice perks in the days that followed.
Aerosmith was in Boise for a concert and several players got to meet the band backstage. Steven Tyler put on a Steelheads jersey and altered the lyrics to a song or two to include the team name.
“That was probably better,” Steelheads captain Jeremy Mylymok said with a laugh when asked to compare the visit to a trip to Washington D.C.
The Steelheads, in their first ECHL season, captured the leagues top prize, defeating the Florida Everblades, 4-1.
