Kelly Cup Champions Sign Briggs, Daigneau

BOISE, Idaho – The Kelly Cup champion Idaho Steelheads announced that they have signed goaltenders John Daigneau and Kellen Briggs.

Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

Serving as the backup to Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player Steve Silverthorn as a rookie in 2006-07, the 6-foot-4 and 200-pound Daigneau was 5-6-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 3.02 and a save percentage of .887 in 17 games.

The 24-year-old Briggs was the starting goaltender the last four seasons at the University of Minnesota where he was 84-34-8 with 13 shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of .907 in 131 games.
