Knapp named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week


Connor Knapp of the Reading Royals is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1. It is the second time in his career that Knapp has won the weekly honor.


Knapp went 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .929 last week, helping the Royals extend their winning streak to seven games.


The 24-year-old made 23 saves in a 7-2 win at Evansville on Wednesday and turned aside 29 shots in a 3-2 victory at Indy on Friday.


Under contract to Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League, Knapp has appeared in 23 games with Reading this season posting a record of 14-7-0 with a 2.93 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903.


A native of Rochester, N.Y., Knapp has appeared in 64 career ECHL games with Reading, Alaska, Florida and Greenville going 30-26-5 with one shutout, a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912. He has also appeared in 10 career games with Rochester of the American Hockey League, and made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres last April.


Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons at Miami University, where he set the school’s career record for goals-against average (1.94) and ranks fourth all-time in wins (46).
