Lampl returns to Toledo

Toledo, Ohio – The Toledo Walleye announced that defenseman Cody Lampl has agreed to terms with the club for the 2014-15 season.

The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Lampl spent last season in the AHL with St. John’s where he appeared in 38 games, collecting 32 penalty minutes. In 64 games with the Walleye in the 2012-13 season, he set career highs in goals (6), points (14) and penalty minutes (127). The native of Ketchum, Idaho also set a Walleye single-season record by finishing that season with a plus/minus rating of +20.

Lampl has appeared in 214 career ECHL games with Toledo, Las Vegas, Idaho and Utah, recording 58 points (8g-50a) and rakcing up 322 penalty minutes. The 28-year-old has added one assist and 34 penalty minutes in 40 career AHL games with St. John’s, Grand Rapids and Abbotsford.

Prior to his professional career, Lampl spent four standout seasons at Colorado College. In 86 games during his four-year college career with the Tigers, he collected 75 penalty minutes and 20 points (6g-14a).
