LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Wranglers announced that they have re-signed defenseman Christian Chartier and that they have signed defenseman Scott Schoneck (pictured).
The Wranglers are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the seventh round (199th overall) by Edmonton in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year-old Chartier had 29 points (9g-20a) in 65 games with Las Vegas in 2004-05. In his first three professional seasons, the 6-foot and 216-pound Chartier had 58 points (12g-46a) in 194 games with St. John’s of the AHL.
The 26-year old Schoneck played the last five years at the University of Saskatchewan where he had 97 points (30g-67a) and 276 penalty minutes in 153 games. In 2004-05, he led all CIS defensemen with 14 goals, 24 assists and 38 points in 39 games and was named First Team All-Canadian and Canada West First Team All-Star as well as Canada West Hockey Outstanding Defensemen.
