The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Leone posted career-best numbers during the 2015-16 season by recording 16 points (7g-9a) and a +9 rating in 62 games. The Detroit native also equaled his career best in goals with seven. In 34 regular-season contests with Toledo during the 2014-15 season, the 5’11”, 190 pound forward picked up 11 points (3g-8a) and 35 penalty minutes to go along with a +5 rating.
Leone spent the 2013-14 season playing in France for Villard-de-Lans where he had 11 points (7g-4a) and 56 penalty minutes in 26 games. The 28-year-old forward posted 39 points (14g-25a) in 81 games with Western Michigan University from 2010-13. In 2012-13, he set career bests with 11 assists and 17 points.
Wuthrich posted a strong first professional season by appearing 53 contests for the Walleye, scoring 28 points (15g-13a). Twice during the season the forward scored a pair of goals in a game – Dec. 3 at Indy (4-2 win) and March 27 at Brampton (5-1 win).
The native of Anchorage, Alaska spent four years at the University of Notre Dame where he appeared in 146 total contests posting 56 points (28g-28a). Wuthrich set a college best with 10 goals in 2014-15 while tying his high with 17 points. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Washington Capitals in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft following his freshman season in which he had 17 points (7g-10a) and was a +5. The 6’1″, 205 pound forward was a member of the USA Under-17 team that took home a Gold Medal in the 2010 World Hockey Challenge.
