Maleyko Returns To Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Storm announced that defenseman Jason Maleyko has accepted an invitation to training camp.

The Storm is the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the sixth round (188th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 26-year-old led Toledo defensemen in 2005-06 with a career-high 46 points, including a career best 40 assists, in 67 regular season games and had eight points (2g-6a) and 14 penalty minutes in 13 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The 6-foot-2 and 193-pound Maleyko has played each of his first three seasons in the ECHL and has 78 points (14g-64a) and 326 penalty minutes in 206 regular season games and nine points (2g-7a) and 14 penalty minutes in 17 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with Cincinnati, Reading and Toledo.
