VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Victoria Salmon Kings announced that rookie center Warren McCutcheon, center Francois-Pierre Guenette and rookie defenseman Matt Kelly have been assigned to the team by the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
The Salmon Kings are the ECHL affiliate of the Moose of the AHL and the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.
Selected in the seventh round (222nd overall) by Vancouver in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 22-year-old Guenette had 42 points (12g-30a) and 34 penalty minutes in 68 games for the Columbia Inferno as a rookie in 2005-06.
The 21-year-old Kelly had one assist in three games with Manitoba in 2005-06, having signed with the Moose after completing his season with Belleville of the Ontario Hockey League. The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Kelly played four seasons for Belleville and had 71 points (21g-50a) and 110 penalty minutes in 201 regular season games and four points (2g-2a) and four penalty minutes in 15 playoff games.
Selected in the eighth round (257th overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year-old McCutcheon played the last three years for the University of Manitoba where he had 98 points (40g-58a) and 187 penalty minutes in 105 games, including career highs in 2005-06 with 27 goals, 33 assists, 60 points, 115 penalty minutes and 41 games.
