Brampton, Ontario – The Brampton Beast announced the signing of 2012 Central Hockey League MVP and 2014 ECHL scoring leader Brandon Marino for the 2015-16 season.
The Beast are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Montreal Canadiens and the American Hockey League’s St. John’s IceCaps.
Marino has notched 162 points (50g-112a) in 143 ECHL games across two seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets. He was named Team MVP and "Mr. Hustle" for being the hardest working player on the squad both years he was with the Komets, in addition to capturing the ECHL scoring title in 2013-14 with 88 points (30g-58a) in 72 games.
A native of Riverside, Calif., Marino played last season with Szekeshfehervar Alba Volan HC in Austria, recording 39 points (11g-28a) in 50 games.
Prior to suiting up for the Komets, Marino spent two years playing for the Quad City Mallards of the CHL. In his second season with the team, he led the league in goals (41) and was second in points (90) in just 65 regular-season games, earning him the title of CHL MVP in 2011-12.
