ELMIRA, N.Y. – Martin, 5-10, 195-pounds, came to Elmira mid-season in 2011-12 in a trade with the Florida Everblades. He began the season on the west coast with the Bakersfield Condors before being traded to Florida on Dec. 1. He was at his most productive with the Jackals and registered 14 points (4g-10a) in 33 games. With 27 points (7g-20a) combined in his three stops, Martin had the second-most points among Jackals defensemen, trailing only Mario Laroque’s 45.
A native of Saint Louis, Mo., Martin is entering his second season of professional hockey. Prior to turning pro he spent four seasons at Yale University. He is tied for the school’s record for games played with 138 and never missed a game while with the Bulldogs. He served as the team’s captain as a senior in 2010-11, led the team’s defensemen in scoring with 23 points, and was named a Second-Team All-American by College Hockey News. He compiled a total of 58 points (11g-47a) and 126 penalty minutes at Yale.
