Mavericks re-sign Courtney, add Fritz

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The Missouri Mavericks announced that they have re-signed forward Andrew Courtney while adding rookie forward Tanner Fritz for the 2015-16 season.

The Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Courtney scored a team record 36 goals in 2014-15 and has spent his entire career with Missouri after debuting late in the 2010-11 season. A native of Belleville, Ontario, Courtney has recorded 225 points (119g-106a) in 248 career games with the Mavericks.

Fritz spent the past four seasons at Ohio State University, putting up 11 goals and 16 assists in 36 games as a senior. A natural leader, Fritz served as captain of his team during the 2014-15 season, wore the “A” during his 2013-14 season with the Buckeyes, and was awarded the 2014 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the hockey team.
