Monarchs ink Arnold, Turgeon

Manchester, N.H. – The Manchester Monarchs, ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced the signings of Derek Arnold and Tony Turgeon for the 2015-16 season.

Arnold is a 5-foot-8, 172-pound center, who most recently played for Lillehammer IK in Norway’s GET-ligaen, the top league in the country. In 45 games for Lillehammer, Arnold posted 45 points (21g-24a), adding four points in four playoff games.

The Foxboro, Mass. native was a member of the Boston Junior Bruins and Waterloo Black Hawks for two seasons each, before competing in Hockey East for UMass-Lowell. At UMass-Lowell, Arnold played in 154 games over his four-year career, totaling 98 points (43g-55a). Arnold scored the game-winning goal to lift the River Hawks over Boston University in the Hockey East Championship game during his junior season, their first of back-to-back league titles.

Turgeon split time between the Allen Americans and Cincinnati Cyclones, while also skating in the American Hockey League with the San Antonio Rampage, totaling 26 games between the three teams.

The Grand Forks, N.D. native played three seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, before foregoing his senior season after signing a professional contract with the Florida Panthers. Turgeon racked up 169 penalty minutes during his 62-game college career.
