ESTERO — They say that the slate is wiped clean when the playoffs begin, but don’t tell that to the Florida Everblades. The Blades carried their hot play from the last month of the season into Game 1 of their series with Greenville on Monday night, routing the Road Warriors 5-2 to take a 1-0 series lead.
“We’ve been in a rhythm and we wanted to carry that into the playoffs,” said Florida forward Cedric McNicoll, who had a goal and an assist in the game. “We prepared the same and we’re really playing with confidence now.”
Florida blew the game wide open in the second period as it dominated the game on offense, scoring three goals, while stifling the Road Warriors on defense.
