Nailers’ Ruid Named C&T Hockey Products
ECHL Plus Performer of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. – Wheeling left wing J.C. Ruid is the C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for January.

Under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, the 6-4 and 215-pound Ruid was +16 in January after finishing plus or even in 13 of Wheeling’s 14 games. Ruid scored 22 points (8g-14a) in January while helping the Nailers go 12-2-0 to improve to 32-11-2 and move into first place overall in the ECHL.

Born in Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ruid ranks second in the ECHL in plus-minus rating with +29 and is tied for 13th in the league in scoring with 48 points (17g-31a) in 38 games while also appearing in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Ruid scored four points (2g-2a) and was +4 on January 2 and January 24 while finishing +3 with an assist on January 31. He scored three points (1g-2a) and was +2 on January 3 and had three points (0g-3a) and was +2 on January 16.

He returns to Wheeling and the ECHL after spending time in the AHL with Albany and Binghamton and the United Hockey League with Adirondack in 2002-03. He scored 32 points (17g-15a) in 28 regular season games with Wheeling in 2001-02 while also playing in the AHL for Grand Rapids and in the UHL for Asheville. He scored 24 points (6g-18a) in 39 regular season games with Roanoke of the ECHL in 1998-99. He began his professional career in the ECHL in 1997-98 scoring 25 points (8g-17a) in 36 regular season games with Baton Rouge and 12 points (4g-8a) in 24 regular season games and three points (2g-1a) in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games with Roanoke.
