PRINCETON, N.J. – Dany Sabourin of Wheeling is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for November 1-7.
Under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, the 24-year-old Sabourin was 2-0-0 with two shutouts and 72 saves and extended his streak without allowing a goal to 210:02. After 34 saves in a 2-0 win at Dayton on November 5 and 30 saves in a 2-0 win against Reading on November 6, Sabourin came off the bench and did not allow a goal in the final 19:38 of a 5-0 loss to Reading on November 7.
Sabourin becomes only the second goaltender since 1997-98 to win the award in consecutive weeks, joining Tyrone Garner, who accomplished the feat in 2000-01. Sabourin won the award for October 25-31 after going 2-0-0 with a goals-against average of 0.46 and a save percentage of .985 while stopping 13 of 14 shooters in the shootout.
Sabourin is 4-1-0 in six games and leads the league in goals-against average (0.91) and shootout wins (2). He is tied for the league lead in wins (4) and shutouts (2) and ranks second in save percentage (.970).
