Nailers’ Schnell Recalled By Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WHEELING, WV — The Wheeling Nailers announced Thursday that Ryan Schnell has been recalled by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.


The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.


The 6-3, 225-lb. forward has appeared in 22 games this season with the Nailers, and leads the team with 91 penalty minutes. Schnell has also posted four points (2g-2a) and a +2 rating.


Prior to Wheeling, the native of Cary, Illinois played two season with U.S. National Under-18 Team, and spent portions of two seasons with the Chicago Steel (USHL) and the Saginaw Spirit (OHL). He played 60 games with Wheeling last season amassing 173 penalty minutes while posting six point (2g-2a).
