Nailers Unveil 15th Anniversary Logo

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers have unveiled a special-edition logo that commemorates the 15 years of professional hockey in Wheeling.

The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Designed by local artist Josh Bommer, the logo features the Wheeling Suspension Bridge overlapping the Ft. Henry Bridge with XV, the Roman numeral for 15, below them as well as a pair of wings, paying tribute to the original ECHL team that came to town in 1992, the Wheeling Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds changed their name to the Nailers prior to the 1996-97 season.
