WINNIPEG, Manitoba — When the 2008-09 season began, Michal Neuvirth was pretty much the odd man out.
With three goalies in Hershey, the Bears and their NHL parent team, the Washington Capitals, had to make a decision, and the decision was to try to find somewhere else for Neuvirth to play.
As it turned out, that may have been the best thing that could have happened to Neuvirth.
After making a fruitless trip back to his native Czech Republic and spending a couple of months in the ECHL, by the time Neuvirth got back into the Hershey rotation — and made his NHL debut, as well — he had not only honed his craft, he had learned how to deal with pressure.
